Reset a Canon IP100 printer to factory spec. My printer is printing 2 blank pages before every print job and I have to - Answered by a verified Technician We use cookies to give you the best possible experience on our website. You will need to do this for each ink cartridge that is showing that it is low or out of ink. If the Top Cover is left open for more than 10 minutes, the Print Head Holder moves to the right to prevent the Print Head from drying out. Close and reopen the Top Cover to return the Print Head Holder to the center.

Connecting Computer or Smartphone to Printer Directly via Wireless LAN (Access Point Mode)

The printer has a function to connect a computer or smartphone to the printer directly via wireless LAN, allowing you to perform printing operation.Follow the procedure below to use this function.

For more on printing operation, refer to device's or application's instruction manual.

Important

If a device has already been connected to the printer via wireless LAN and you want to add a device to connect, connect it to the printer directly.You can connect up to 5 devices to the printer at the same time.
For restrictions when you change the connection method from direct connection to connection via a wireless router:

Changing Printer Setting

Change the printer setting following the procedure below.

Press and hold Wi-Fi button and release it when POWER lamp flashes 3 times.
Make sure POWER lamp changed from flashing to lit.
If the POWER lamp is not lit, repeat step 2.

Note

To check the current access point mode setting of the printer, print out the network setting information.
You can change the security setting using IJ Network Tool (bundled software).

Connecting Device to Printer

Important

Before connecting a computer to the printer and start printing with the method below, complete setup for wireless LAN (via a wireless router) from our website (canon.com/ijsetup).

Turn on wireless communication on your computer or smartphone.
For Android or iOS, enable 'Wi-Fi' on your device's 'Setting' menu.For more on the procedure, refer to device's instruction manual.
For iOS:
Select 'XXXXXX-iP110series' ('XXXXXX' represents last six digits of printer's MAC address.) from SSID list displayed on device.
Enter password.
The printer serial number is specified as a default password.It is printed on the sticker attached on the printer rear and consists of 9 alphanumeric characters (four alphabets followed by five numbers).
Note
- To check printer's serial number, print out the network setting information.
Connection is completed.

Performing Printing Operation

Start printing from the connected device.

Although software resetter Canon Pixma iP1980 or resetter canon Pixma iP1900 series not available on the internet now. Doesn’t mean there is no way to reset the printer series. My opinion canon Pixma iP 1980 is new version of Canon Pixma iP 1880 so the reset methode for canon iP 1880 can be applied to Reset Canon iP1980. I also tested using reset methode for Canon iP1700 on it’s work on several Printer Canon iP1900 series.

For permanent reset after doing the manual reset you must using software restter. Software resetter such as iPtool and general tool for canon iP 1800 can be used to reset waste ink counter on the Canon iP1980 and Canon iP1900 series. To reset Waste Ink Tank canon iP1980 or iP1900 series follow this steps:

He say have tried it to Canon Pixma IP1980 and it perfectly works without using General Tools or IPtools.

Unplug the power of your printer
press and hold the power button
Plug in the power while holding the power button
then using a pen, press the Cover detection button (this button is pressed every time you close the cover, this button tells the printer if the cover is open or not. you will need to use a pen or any object that can reach the button since you cannot close the cover while holding the power button.)
release the power button
release the cover detection button
close the cover and turn your printer on. done

Tips Reset From J-TECH to Reset Waste Ink counter in the Canon Pixma iP1900/1980 using software resetter

CANON PIXMA IP1900 is just a successor of ip1880 PARTS & MANUALS ARE THE SAME but a little bit faster than 1880 (before using this resetter you must reset your printer manually)

CHANGE USB PORT change into CANON PORT
click lock release
click ip1800
click device id
clear waste ink counter by clicking MAIN & PLATEN
Check EEPROM Box

J-TECH also say: but this is not the end of your problem. EVERYTIME YOU CLEAR WASTE INK COUNTER you have to open your printer and wash the INK PAD and let it dry it will damage any part of your computer if you will not do this. I’M USING PIXMA IP1980 for almost 10,000 pages but still SAME QUALITY

@FZ my printer got alternating blinking. Tried following the steps from J-Tech until click device ID only, when Im clearing waste ink the general tool is not responding. When the printer is turned off the general tool is back to normal. Need your help. 🙁
@sonric68, before tried reset methode from J-Tech you must reset manual the printer. reset manual for Canon iP1980 such as reset manual in canon iP1700. thanks
Hi from Australia ..I have a Canon Pixma ip1900..I replaced the color cartridge but I dont know how to reset the printer..at the moment an orange light is flashing..what can I dio..any assistance would be vewry appreciated…thanks

it works for me but it is only on service mode, i still use the general tool while in service mode.
I removed my printer from the service center after a week of waiting.I spent hours surfing for this software resetter for Canon iP1980.I found dagreyt’s suggestion and followed it. It worked! I was surprised my Canon iP1980 worked again. Thanks dagreyt…

I reset my cartridge in ip1900 by J-TECH instruction it’s ok but after power off my printer and then power on my monitor said cartridge is empty. Why this is happen? What am I doing wrong?
@Fz, What service tool do you mean? If you mean General Tool I used it it’s work but after turn off and turn on it’s back to earlier status empty. ;/ what can I do? i’ve tried all instructions and always return to empty status after shut down.;/

what is the problem of canon 1980 if the green light blink once and the orange light blinks seven times? and every time i print it says ink cartridge is not properly installed, can anyone help me how to troubleshoot this,pls….

Good day! I resetted my printer as a manual resetting and it’s work normally… but after the printer restarted (power off & on again) the dialog said again… “the ink absorber is full”
I tried the step two (software resetter) but the program (GeneralTool.exe) says… “Wait a moment” I wait a long long time but no happen… always says “Wait a moment” and the GeneralTool wezard says “Not responding” what is the problem of this? please help me!!!

@mac2x : I got the same problem before, but after i tried another day…it wasn’t say “not responding” again. I dont know why, maybe you can try once more..after you ON your printer and follow the step
1. hold the printer power
2. release the cable from the power while you still holding the power printer
3. plug the cable again
4. release your hand from the power printer
5. ON your printer
just directly use your general ip tool,as the procedure ,

my printer is IP1980 and was purchased 2 months ago. my problem is that it doesn’t turn on anymore. it seems that its power is no longer functioning. what can possibly be done about it?

tip: to win7 x64 based machine use compatibility and run the general tool as win xp application and as administrator.
further, you may have to undergo process 1 (manual) first then without turning – off the printer, proceed with process 2 (General Tool)
